Was talking w/ a guy in a gun shop. I was asking around for hi cap mags for my son's 10/22 and he quoted $150 EACH for 25 rounders!
The explanation I got was that since the ban went into affect in '94, the pipeline is just now drying up causing the prices to go up...
If that is true, I am sticking w/ 10 rounders!

so yer telling me another whole gun is cheaper than 1 high cap magazine?

God save the tube fed 22lr!

Mail order from north of the border. The ban on hicap mags did not affect rimfire cartridges up here, most go for around $25-35 Cdn. Takes about $1.53 Cdn to buy 1 US dollar. Butler Creek 25rd mags, $19.99 from WholeSale Sports.

PS don't expect very good service from Wholesale. They s**k. Made a vow NEVER to spend another nickel with them. I'll say it again, the service at WholeSale Sports S**KS. Long story, but the service really s***s. Did I mention how bad the service is?

Greed hath no season...:(

You didn't say what type of mags you were looking at, but if I were you, I'd shop around...I think you can do better than this.

Maybe during this time of "home defense," we ought to forget this ban so we can protect the "homelanders..."

As Steve Irwin would say, "danger danger danger!" While buying post ban 10/22 mags over the border may be possible and even tempting, it is one hell of a stupid idea. Will you get caught? Probably not, but the risk is there. Posession of post ban hicap magazines is a felony, period. Don't do it!
If you don't like the ban, join the NRA and get active in politics now, not two weeks before the A.W. ban eclipses in '04.

Can't remember if it was Gun List or Shotgun News but there is and ad in there of someone selling BC 25 rounders for less than $80, IIRC. It's a 2 page ad for some dealer in the US, can't remember the name. Also had Ramline 50 rounders for under $100. (Have tried Ramlines well before the ban and they did not function very well after the first few magfuls. BCs have been working great from the start non-stop.)

When BC 25 round 10/22 magazines start really going for $150, I'm going to break out a bunch that I have and sell them! :)

Way back when, before the hi-cap ban, I had gone to the Berea Gun Show in OH. In the last building, there was a guy selling BC mags for $15/ea. I said I'll buy 5 of them. For that, the guy was nice enough to LOWER THE PRICE to $12.50/ea. Should have bought more but didn't.

Oh the good old days.

"WOW, that never occured to me...how depressing!"

Talk about depressing - I sold my 10/22 along with 3 - 30 round Ramlines for $100 at a gunshow. The high cap ban has just been passed an it didn't even cross my mind at the time. For some reason I was thinking that it applied only to AK's, AR's and the like.

Good to see SOME of my investments are paying off! (Still recovering from opening my last Roth IRA statement. To quote Clint Smith: "DOUBLE YIKES").

Why wouldn't importing them be legal? People keep importing AK mags and such and they're still super cheap? Is it that they have to be made prior to the ban (like millions of AK mags are) to be importable or what? I'm sure I've seen people saying they just got fresh shipments of AK mags in, maybe I'm crazy...

I need hi-caps badly, but I'll be darned if I'm paying over 4-5 times what the stupid things are worth to buy them... Darn people ripping everyone off is what it is...

Ripping people off??? Yikes, if there's a person willing to pay what I ask for them, I can't see how that's a rip off. Some had the foresight to buy truck loads of magazines, others said "it will never happen here."

Of course, when I post about you should buy a mountain of magazines, I get "it will never happen here" and "I only need one."

MAK, have I got a deal for you!

Those AK mags you see imported are commbloc magazines that were stockpiled during the cold war. I've got some that were made but never saw the light of day inside their brown wrappers.

Since the magic 1994 date was post cold war, all those magazines are kosher. All of which is pretty ironic, seeing former hardline communist countries making money selling surplus arms and supplies to the capitalist running dogs.

"Come on down to Krazy Kruschev's - we will bury you....with a wide selection of products at low, low prices!!"
