Yet another SKS stock question.

I have a Chinese SKS that came with both a 10 fixed (but detachable) and a 30 detachable mag, no bayo but the lug(s) are present, wood stock, and no muzzle brake/flash hider device.

So I recently saw this choate druganov stock that would look great on a rifle like mine. But others have said that I have to have so many U.S. made parts or less than a certain amount of ugly banned parts on it to use the choate and the detachable magazines.

If my rifle is a post ban doesn't it have to come into the U.S. with the right amount of U.S. parts and/or the requesite number of ugly parts off already? ???

Can anyone honestly interpret the BATman statute/rule/law/incrimination standards?

Oh and one person mentioned that I may have to cut off the bayo lug to use the detachable mag and the choate. That's fine I just want to go to the range and shoot it without being drawn and quartered in the town square.

Uuuggh! Mr. President elect, help!

Go to http://www.SIMONOV.NET it is an excellent web site with lots of info on the SKS. While I do own one myself I plan on keeping it "stock"....the gun is in excellent shape, wood is immaculate....all the serial numbers match. It a chinese version, made in 1967 and has the bayonet blade. The only thing I added to it was a 1" butt pad to help with the short stock.

I'm sorry I can't speak to what is "legal" or not, as keeping track can be a hobby unto itself.

I can speak of the stock. You may want to handle an SKS with one intalled. I found that they become far to nose heavy with the lighter butt end. I will admit they look real good (scary).

One option for the blade lugs is a bi-pod attachment.

No such animals as US made Sks replacement parts other than mags & a trigger job done by a company that I can remember the name. There are about 10 imported parts that (from bolts to stocks) can be replaced in a Sks, but one problem: No one in the US makes replacement Sks parts. To use a detach mag you would have to get rid of a lot of evil features to be "legal". The Choate is no problem as long as it isn't a folder. There was a site called "The Sks chronicles" http://users.ev1.net\~ that had great info on this , but I can not access it anymore.
