Yet another reason being a criminal in FL is a bad idea...

The Daytona Beach News-Journal, often criticized for its "liberal" stance on many issues, seems to be churning out stories of armed self-defense on a daily basis:

Briefs: Man hospitalized after shooting in Daytona Beach
From Daytona Beach News-Journal staff reports

DAYTONA BEACH - One man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound after shots were fired during a robbery attempt at a house on 4th Street, and police investigators said Sunday they are questioning four men and looking for four others.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at 1108 4th Street. Police said a large, four-door car either dark or silver-colored, pulled up to the house where four men were sitting outside. Four men armed with guns and wearing ski masks got out of the car and demanded money.

One of the intended victims began firing a semiautomatic handgun, and the four armed men fled, police said.

But one of the men at the house was wounded and was hospitalized at Halifax Medical Center with what police said was a "possible life-threatening injury."

The man's name has not been released. He was treated by fire and rescue personnel at the scene and taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Daytona Beach police at (904) 255-1431 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-323 TIPS.

Thanks for posting this story. I've
found that even though many Florida
newspapers are anti-gun, they still
report these stories. I guess it's the
old adage, "If it bleeds, it leads."

Probably true, Robert. I see on TFL where some folks' local papers won't print a story of self-defense, which leads folks to assume anti-gun bias. The N-J is possibly the only major paper in Florida with liberal editorial stances, becuase it's one of the few not owned by big syndicates like Harte-Hanks. Still, what gratifies me is that it's common to find legal self-defense working here in Florida.
