yet another kimber problem

I recently returned my kimber for service. It had a problem with the thumb safety.Got the gun back and I was happy until I found another problem.I noticed that I could not drop the slide with a mag, without a mag,or when chambering a round.I took out the slide stop and found it to be bent.It was actually very visible. Why did kimber not notice this?I am losing faith in this company. This will be my last kimber and I may trade it for a glock 21.They told me it would take 2 weeks to get another slide stop.

Dang, I sent mine back for service and it was very satisfactory. Call 'em up and let 'em have it! Looks like somebody screwed up, keep going up the chain of command until you get satisfaction.

Goat, why don't you call Joe Seuk at customer service and ask him to send you a new slide stop overnight? He's very helpful, and attentive to customer needs.

Sounds like they're getting too backed up.

There are way to many people with first hand knowledge of how good Timbers repair practices are, for me to even consider buying one. The day I get on a first name basis with the Sig or Colt repair guys, they are both for sale.

Yeah, you'll never get on a first name basis with Colt's repair people...cause you'll never be able to get ahold of them.

I've got a Kimber Ultra Carry and have had no problems with it thus far. I don't know how Kimber's customer service is, I haven't had any reason to use it. I do know that I respect Kimber a hell of a lot more than I do a couple of other firearm manufactures (I don't need to mention names here), that have sold there souls to our federal government and there anti-gun agendas.

The only reason I know Joe Seuk's name at Kimber is that I'm a pesky guy. I lost my sight adjusting tool, so called to see if I could get another. Talked to Joe, and got that and some other stuff in the mail a few days later...free. When a friend let me try the trigger on his AMT, I decided I wanted mine lightened and smoothed out. Called Joe, and even though it was out of warranty, he said send it back. One week later, it was in my hands, and with a much nicer trigger. Free. Had an unusual jam and called Joe. He said to send the gun in and they'd fix it free. Turned out it was just some brass filings in the firing pin spring, so I didn't send it.

Anyway, they've been good to me. Sorry to hear about problems others have had.

I know Joe Seuk from before he went to Kimber, and he was a goodguy then (plus he bought my ammo!).

Since then I've seen him a the '99 AWARE and he was working with Kimber then. Joe is genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction, and Kimber stands behind their product.

You can e-mail Joe (but DON'T NAG HIM with minor questions / crap) at jseuk@kimberamerica.com

Talked to kimber and they told me to send the old one back. They would not send a new one until they saw the old one.STRIKE THREE!

Goat: I tried to get a friend who doesn't shoot very much to buy either a Glock 21 or 30. He wanted a "pretty" pistol. Guess what he bought?? Kimber compact stainless. Guess who stays screwed up at the range all the time???

My Glocks just keep on shootin'.

Hey Walter, I convinced my friend to trade into a Kimber Stainless Covert. Guess who thinks it's the best 1911 he's ever shot and wouldn't consider selling it for the world?

I have always been a Colt lover and I especially like all 1911s. I now own 18 different variants and my latest is a Kimber Custom Combat Carry model which I picked up at a local Pawn Shop for what turned out to be a steal. I bought it for $400.00 out the door and the gun appears to have been unfired. I had a bud with a Kimber who tired to swap it to me for my ParaOrdnance P-13 but I didn't do the deal because he had sent his back to Kimber and it came back with the same problems as when he orginally sent it to them. However on the second trip back to the factory they got it right, he now tells he loves it. I will tell you this much, my new Kimber is a fine piece of workmanship, and it simply exudes quality. My Kimber is a keeper and if I can get a deal on another one I will buy it too. Don't give up on your Kimber, a slide stop is no big deal, simply pick a new one up if you don't want to go through the hassles of shipping it back to Kimber again. This ain't rocket science, that we're dealing with here. :)
