The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear one of the appeals filed by GOP presidential candidate George W. Bush's campaign in the Florida recount, The Associated Press reports. Oral arguments on December 1.

Yeah, mentioning holidays - I found it unbelievable that the media didn't readily read between the lines and translate what the Miami-Dade canvassing board really said the other day. They said "there's not enough time to do a hand count". They really meant "we ain't working on Thanksgiving day". It's not rocket science.

My first guess about the SC's Friday's hearing date was that they were hoping that this whole FUBAR situation would go away by itself before they even had to make a ruling. Perhaps they were thinking someone might beat some sense into Gore before Friday. That doesn't seem very likely now .
