I have a .410 hand gun that I want to ship. Would there be any problem if I shipped the barrel in one box and the rec. in another without the ffl deal?

Are you shipping it to a buyer, or to yourself? If you are shipping it to a buyer, it has to go to a FFL holder. I believe that you can ship yourself guns without a FFL dealer, though.
 
handguns are usaully required to be shipped next day by UPS, Fedex ect....

do it the right way. Trying to save a few bucks could cost you
 
That looks like it would be fun to shoot. I don't know the precise law, but you can bet that the legal dogs that drafted those laws saw that one coming and made sure there wasn't a chance that what you suggest would be legal.

If it looks too easy it probably isn't.
