Picked up what I thought was an Auto-5 Browning at the gun store and was surprised when it said Yamamoto Firearms co. Made in Japan. Is this really a Miroku by another name? It's everybit as well finished as a late model Browning. Anybody know about this gun?

IIRC, all the browing shotgun units are made in the land of the rising sun.

Was not aware they were cloning units in Yamamotos name.
hmm, bears some investigating.
I'd have to say the quality of the units have been excellent.

It's used, but practically new. It says "Pointer" and the only other thing I could find was a Charles Daly Pointer on Guns America, and that looks just like an Auto-5 also.
Has the mag cutoff and excellent finishes of a Browning. So what's it worth?

IINM, Browning "farms-out" their shotgun production. Auto-5s came from Belgium's FN works except during the war years (WWII) when Remington made them. After the Model 1911 pistol, the Auto-5 is probably the most copied (licensed and unlicensed) design of J M Browning.
