Y'all might want to watch Ripley's Believe It or Not on Wednesday

I just caught about 2 seconds of a commercial for Ripley's Believe it or Not, the new version with Dean Cain, I think it's on USA at 8:00 ET on Wednesday night. They were hyping a "sharpshooter" and the clip was of that guy from the Shooting Show (I don't konw his name, sorry) who does the various quickdraws and tricks like throwing half dollars and hitting them edgewise with revolvers. I'll be watching this one, that guy is amazing.

It was on TBS. I saw it but it wasn't nearly as good as seeing Munden on American Shooter. Definitely done for a non-shooting TV audience.

Just my .02$.

Bob Munden IS amazing. Many is the time Ive watched him on American Shooter, scratching my head thinking "how in the h*ll did he do that?"...

Byron Ferguson(sp?) is also something else. I wonder if both of these gentlemen are born with these abilities, or if they have practiced for decades.

It just came on here. I'm going to watch it anyway. Too bad it takes a freakshow for people to appreciate what Mr. Munden can do.

Speaking of amazing feats, did anyone see Tales of the Gun from a couple of weeks ago when they detailed the Smith & Wesson history? At the end of the show, they had TNN video of Jerry M(SP?) shooting for the world speed record using an S&W Performance Center 8 shot revolver. 8 shots on 1 target in one second, 8 shots on 4 targets in 1.06 seconds, then he switched to his 625 and did 6, reload, and 6 more in 2.99 seconds! I've watched that segment over and over and over, and I still have a hard time believing it! Incredible!
The thing I don't understand is, how does that beat Ed McGivern's record of 5 in 2/5ths of a second? That rate of fire comes out to well over 10 shots per second, but I can't figure out the equation to use to translate that into shots per second; can someone else who's better at math fill me in on that one? (And show me the equation you use to figure it, too?)

Pay attention here....

1 + 1 = 2, 2 + 2 = 4, 3 + 3 = 6, etc, etc. :p

But Schmit, what is 100 factorial?

If he shot 5 in .4 sec (2/5ths = .4), then
shots per sec = 1.0 sec / .4 sec X 5 = 2.5 X 5 = 12.5 shots per second.

Mal, just to make sure I have that right:
(1 divided by .4) times 5, not 1 divided by (.4 times 5), correct?
Too bad standard computer keyboards don't have the division sign (bar with dot over & under.) I wonder if anyone makes a keyboard for writing math equations? I'm sure it would have keys for square and cube roots, as well as both long and short division symbols, and probably a few other math ops which I've forgotten.

Schmit, if your level of math skills is on par with your spelling, it's a wonder you can ever calculate drop at 300 yds or beyond for your AWP or your Sharps. :D

I've seen this guy before... he's really amazing. This guy takes a 10/22 and tosses aspirin tablets in the air like clay pigeons and blasts them into dust.

45King, Yes, it's (1 ÷ .4) X 5. I should have used parens like you did.

It's the font you use that determines the symbols. There probably is a specialized keyboard that has the symbols added, but I haven't seen one.

If you want to use special symbols, you need to know their decimal number in the font and then, while holding down the Alt key, enter the number with the numeric keypad then release the Alt key. These, and lots more, are available in most standard fonts:
227 = π
241 = ±
246 = ÷
251 = √
253 = ²

Your computer has a nice little built in function to show you all the decimal points for a particular font set, if you are running windows 9x, not sure about others. It is start menu, programs, accesories, system tools, character map, just click on the symbol you want and it will tell you what alt+number command to use. And to keep this on topic, I really, really, really, really wish I could shoot as well as any of these guys, I still have trouble hitting the bullseye most of the time though.... practice practice practice is my goal right now.
