Hi All,
My wife just picked me up a copy of a magazine called "The Complete Guide to Hornady Bullets * Ammo * Reloading Tools". She's a sweet gal
After looking through it, however, I must confess I am very little wiser about Hornady's products (specifically pistol ammo) than I was before. A quick perusal of their website turned up not much more.
Here is what I'd like to know. For the three types of bullet listed above, what are the applications? It seems like XTP's are Hornady's traditional awesome hollow point. Accurate, expands well at lower velocities, generally bad-ass. Critical Defense/FTX Seems like it has all the qualities of XTP plus it is more likely to expand when penetrating clothing, and maybe it feeds better since it has that plug up front. But TAP FPD? I don't know. It seems to have reduced muzzle flash but that's about all I can find about it.
So what is the TAP FPD stuff for? why would someone load up with them instead of XTP's or CD/FTX's? And why would anyone use XTP's when CD/FTX's seem to be the next evolutionary step? Should Hornady drop the XTP line since it has a superior offering now?
Anyway, from what I can find I think I'm going to try out some CD FTX's in 9mm. What do you guys think?
