XS Big Dot for SP101

Have one on my 3" 101. Did not notice any appreciable difference in POI. If I "split" the center of the big dot with the rear sight, my POI = my POA at 10 yards.

It really helped my aging eyes quickly acquire the target over the short sight radius.

Go for it. You won't regret it.

A tall round front sight with a trench rear is a bad combination.

I tried it with a Trijicon front sight and switched back to the stock one.

Put some Crimson Trace grips on it and call it good.

Crimson Trace

I thought about adding Crimson Trace, but I have a personal bias against relying upon anything for crisis management that needs batteries.

One of my buddies came back from Sandbox 1 (Kuwait) and told me about the poor saps that did nothing but run around passing out Duracells.

Maybe I should just stick with the standard sights...

When I made the choice for a front sight with a light in it for my SP101, I researched it down to two (the Mepro and the XS), then talked to the 'smith at the local shop.

He told me that he had done a few Big dots on SP101's and that the customers were not happy with the change in POI. I went with the Meprolight based on that recommendation, and I have been 100% pleased with it.

That is completely second hand information for you, but it is the most relevant info I can give.

Have had a couple of XS sights on SP101 and LCR with no difference.
I see more of a difference switching from 130 gr to 158 gr bullet weights.

Same here. I put the Standard XS Dots on my LCR 357 and SP 101. I didn't notice anything different other than I could see the sights better and make better shots.

Seeing Sights

Better visibility especially in low light is the goal here.
I work with a lady who is blood-kin to the XS folks, ,so I have a slight preference for supporting a family business.

I'll check out the standard instead of the big dot. I thought the Big Dot would work more like express rifle sights. I shoot 158 LSWHP, so the bullet weight is not an issue.
