Anyone have experience using an XP-100 in the field? The one I have is very accurate from the bench but hard to utilize for hunting. I have trouble getting a solid shooting position with my EER scope. This is aggravated by vegetation. I am open to advice. Thanks

Hello,
I too have a Remington XP-100 in .221 Fireball. I have a red dot sight on it. I tend to hold it like a rifle with my left hand griping the forend. I have a laminated Fagen stock on it to replace the factory plastic one. I once saw a "Stick" type support made by MTM who also makes plastic cases. It looked somewhat like a walking cane and had a little support that moved up and down. You put the bottom on the ground and held it in your left hand while supporting the gun on the support with your right hand. For low vegetation there are small biopods that attach to the barrel or stock.

I haven't hunted with an xp but I have a fair amount with a 14" contender. my favorite rest is sitting on my butt with my knees drawn up and leanining on my back pack resting the gun across my knees. I was able to shoot a antilope at around 200 yards using this method. I have used other rests to shoot 2 other deer and one antilope with. In handgun hunting you have to be a little creative. hope this helps
