XD9 beavertail question

I'm trying to get the beavertail safety out of my XD9 service, but the pin seems to be stuck on something. Is there something else holding the pin in or should I just be able to tap it out with a punch? Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
if i remember correctly there is a spring on the pin. youll need a dental pick or a screwdriver with a v filed into it to move the spring.
