XD issues

Picked up a XD 45 from a friend. I had one in the past and loved the accuracy and he did not like it because he could not hit anything with it.
Long story short.... Nor can I. I am hitting 4inches left and every shot is hitting consistently 2" lower than the previous till it falls off the paper. Wish I would have taken a pic of th paper.

What do I do? Send it to Springfield?

First thing I would do is fire it from a stable rest with various different ammo. The fact that it hits progressively low as you continue to fire certainly suggests an element of human error.

Can't think of anything to cause that.
Unless..
The gun is bouncing off the sand bags.
Or positioned differently on the bags with each shot.

Try adjusting te sights, if it shoots consistently somewhere, the sights are probably off and need adjusting, if it shoots severely left or right mayeb a trip to springfield, a taller or shorter front sight will correct vertical alignment, springfield will probably help you

I had a similar issue with a new XDm recently. It shot left because the rear sight was shifted left. I sent it back and they re-centered the sight and included a 25yd test target with the return. Springfield's customer service department is awesome. I had a response to an email query with a shipping label on the same day.

Send it into Springfield Armory. I hear they have top notch customer service.

If it's any consolation.. Have you considered Glock or The Smith and Wesson M&P Series? I've never been a fan of the HS - "XD" series. But I sure do love Springfield Armory and their 1911's.

I have had a lot of XD'S. Let us know the out come. I would bet shooter error... there are lines on the rear sight to aligned it. Are they even?

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

Call Springfield. They will make it right. I've had that issue with windage before and it was loose sights. I had to peen the base of the rear sight so it would fit tight in the dovetail. Your problem is drifting elevation, however, and thats a whole different animal. Unless you have fully adjustable sights, which probably isn't found on many XDs.

I've no clue on what would cause elevation drift if it isn't a sight issue.
