XD-45 Service Pistol

I have all kinds of quality firearms, but the XD-45 Service is the one I choose for home defense, and the only one I keep loaded in the house. I bought it before the XDm came out, but I've always been pleased with it in every way.

I had the 4" XD with the compact 10 round mag also in .45. It had 13 round mags with grip extentions. Great gun, accurate and comfortable to shoot. Just a hair too big for me to carry, though. Traded it for a Gen4 G19 and couldnt be happier. Its all about preference and application, and the XD makes a great HD piece

Neat.

I like the XD 45 Service well enough. It's pretty comfortable in hand. I prefer it over the XDM 45.

The only reason I dislike XD/XDM pistols is the trigger. It's very smooth but no wall whatsoever. It just rolls right through. That works for some people, but not me. I wish I could give the XD the trigger that's on, say, the newer M&P's(not the old ones) or especially the M&P with Apex kit.

I have an XD-45 4" also. I have the 460 Rowland kit in mine along with a PRP trigger setup. The PRP makes a world of difference int trigger pull and reset. I have been very happy with mine.

Been having a great time shooting it. With the comp, it really gets your attention at the indoor range. I would highly recommend the extra strength magazine springs. I haven't had a FTF, FTE yet. It does put a pretty good size dent in the fired cases though, haven't figured out from where. The DPM Rcoil reducer kit has two springs in it that let me still shoot 45ACP without problems also.

XDs are good guns. the triggers are slightly spongier than the XDM and the trigger has a different texturing. aside from that, they shoot pretty much the same. I prefer the XDM, even with the introduction of the mod2 XDs, but I've owned XDs and if I got a good deal on one I wouldn't turn it down.
