XD 40 feedback

Several days ago I asked about the taurus pt140 and got some very candid, honest feedback.

Today I am asking about the Springfield Arm. XD-40. Held one at the shop today and dry fired it

Any feedback?

The shopkeep said there were some subtle differences between the xd-40 and the HS2000 (he has the hs2000 in stock for $30 less, I thought they should be cheaper than that) Anyone know what these "subtle differences" are?

"Subtle Differences"? Let's see. The XD has a slightly beefed up extractor, Springfield's branding all over the gun, oh, and yes, $150 price increase (most of us got our HS2Ks for $269 - $289). Even in the low $400 range, I feel that the XD is still a good value.

I think that you will find that the HS2000 is in 9mm. If it is in .40, it's a rare find indeed. Springfield took over importation right before the .40s became available, and as far as we know, no .40 HS2000s where ever imported.

Personally I, and about 700 folk over at HS2000/XD Talk are thrilled with our HS2000/SA XDs. But, you'll be sure to find some of the "glock is god" crowd that like to bad month the XD, without ever shooting one.

I don't think the HS2000 ever made it to .40 production. I've handled both, and there is no noticeable difference in the two guns. At a recent show, some dealer actually wanted more for the HS.

I have the HS 9mm. I would go with springfield version though. Springfield will cover the lifetime warranty on the HS but springfield won't cover any shipping charges which is more than $30 if you needed to ship it back just once. I also have a XD extractor in my HS. It has more tension and a slightly bigger claw which seems like a plus. Mark
