It is my contention that in 100% of the cases, the shuck-shuck sound will cause a rapid rearranging of priorities among all involved. There is no question that the 12 gauge shotgun is a formidable defensive weapon, and the realization that one is loaded just for you is intimidating like little else.
WOW-thats a good one.
What does everybody think of using 4 shot steel shells for a home defense shotgun?
Is it a resonable choice or far too small?

For hunting the rule of thumb for steel shot is two sizes larger than lead. So I would think #2's or larger would work better. Just my $0.02.

Don't forget steel shot patterns tighter than lead from the same choke. Basically, a modified choke will shoot like a full. Using too tight (such as the super tight turkey chokes) a choke can cause problems with erratic patterns and choke damage.
