X - MARINE AND NAVY SEAL

My Dad (ex-Marine weapons instructor late 1950's) and a close friend (ex-Navy SEAL, Nam Late 1960's) both have a unique way of shooting their firearms.
Both are long time hunters using pistol, rifle and shotgun.
During shooting, they both drag their shooting finger along the bottom of the trigger guard, using the tip of their finger!!!
They both told me that this ensures the trigger goes straight back.
My dad uses a German .22lr revolver for CCW and my close friend uses a S&W .41 Mag.
Anyone else ever heard of this or actually shoots like this????

Just a note...there is no such thing as an ex-Marine...only a former active duty Marine. Semper Fi

I've never heard of it before, but, doggone it, now I'm going to have to try it. :)

Actually Steve you are right,
my Dad did raise me in a Marine type enviorment and to this day he is what I would call a Marine!!!
My Navy SEAL friend is from Pennsylvania...
(what a small world)

Dakodakid,
I find it intresting that they both choose to carry revolvers, and in calibers not normally thought of to be used for self defense.//lawdog

PS I am intrested to try the the trigger guard skill myself!!

Actually, there is (according to some USMC buddies) -- dishonorable discharges are "ex" Marines. My buddies are also very touchy about the distinction between "ex" and "retired" (I only made that mistake once -- damn near got my a$$ kicked).

Yeah, well, there's the Former Marine (Marine not currently on Active Duty), and that seems to be the best choice of words.

An air-head?
I would say 'slumming'. ;)

I tried the "sliding the trigger finger along the bottom of the trigger guard" technique last night. It worked reasonably well, but no better than keeping my finger centered on the trigger.

The big drawback was that the sharp tip of the trigger dug into my fingertip. Ouch!

Okay, Jar-Heads. What do you call an honorably discharged Marine who joins the Air Force?[/quote]

We in the Air Force call them "people who have gotten smart"!

I call him an individual who did not enjoy military service, thus joined the Air Force. ;)

That sounds messed up. I don't think my Glock will fire like that.
