Wyoming Arms Pistols

At a gun show I recently saw a Wyoming Arms Pistol in 10mm. After getting home I found others in .45acp and 9mm available online (used). They are surprisingly affordable. The one I handled felt hefty and tough, had a long barrel with adjustable sights. Had stainless steel, and felt tough. Looked like it hadn't been fired at all.

Made in Wyoming, now that just seems cool to me. When I think of Wyoming I think of big handguns, pretty cowgirls, and diesel flatbeds. Just say Wyoming and I'll smile.

Problem is, I've read some negative stuff on the internet about them. Anybody had experience with these? Are they reasonably reliable? Reasonably accurate? Junk?

I've shot them but never owned one. Word around the campfire is they're junk and you'd be far better off with a 1911 or glock pattern 10mm.

I'm a 10mm Auto fan, but...

The Wyoming Arms pistols were poorly cast. The frames and slides tended to gall and jam regularly. At first, i wanted one of these but they have not gotten better with time. I could be wrong.

While it's always encouraging to see a new manufacturer on the scene, staying with the major ones is probably best.
Too many companies have faded away, leaving their customers high and dry.

Thanks All,

They sound like they have a pretty bad record. I already have good working semiautos anyway. Guess I'll have to keep saving my money for a Freedom Arms to fill my Wyoming niche.

After all I have read about individual encounters/experience with the Wyoming Arms (Thermopolis WY) they may be all right after a "fluff and buff" is perfromed on the internals. some may have suffered from tempering issues, while others were okay.

It all depends upon the individual example. If you could have it examined by a competent gunsmith, perhaps it would be a good purchase.

Quien sabe?

Better safe then sorry.

I had a 10mm round "explode" (it was later found to be triple charged) in a Colt Delta Elite many years ago.

I sustained only very minor injuries that I attribute to the excellent craftsmanship of Colt.

Never go cheap...it could cost you an eye, fingers, etc.
