So far as the actual MTOE each platoon had three rifle squads of ten men each. Each squad in theory had 1 BAR and 1 M1903... So nine. Nobody knows exactly how many of these were sniper rifles because no one is sure how many were made.
Each battalion had three rifle companies and one heavy weapons company with light machine guns and mortars.... so 27.
There were no other assigned positions in a battalion for snipers. The commander could easily change that around if he so choose.
