WTB -Pearce Grips/Mag for E German Mak

Congrats on your purchase!

Having tried both the Pierce and Makawrap aftermarket grips, I can say that I did not care for either of them in the least. The Mak has a very comfortable grip-shape, which both of those greatly alter while also adding alot of width and changing contours. If you have large hands I presume the Pearce grip would be worthwhile, but if they are small to average I would recommend either the plain black East German grip with a rubber sleeve or the Bulgarian commercial grip. IMO.

Also I would recommend the Wolf extra power 19# spring. Seems to improve feeding and function, which in turn improves reliability.

Go to Makarov.com and read up, Karl Bloss has so much info you will be busy for weeks sorting through it. He also has the best Makarov related store in the world, unfortunately it is closed for the next month.

I have a Mak that came from the distributor with Pearce grips installed (and the originals in the box - we lucked out on that order). I like the feel of the Pearce grips pretty well, but they are a little thick. I've recently ordered some Makawraps to give them a try (they haven't come yet). I'll probably put them on my other Mak and leave the one with the Pearce grips as is. If you like the feel of larger grips and don't mind adding a little bulk to the grip area, I think you'd like them. If you want to minimize the size of the gun, the Makawraps are supposed to be better. I'll know soon. I don't much care for the feel of the original Mak grips. I think www.jgsales.com sells the Pearce grips for around $20. www.makarov.com sells both types (though they are moving and will be closed for a month or so).

Get a bunch of magazines from makarov.com, they're very cheap. Also get the plastic loader for the magazines, well worth it.
