I was at the gun shop the other day looking for some 231. They didn't have any but them had some WST. I didn't buy any but I am thinking about it. How does it compare with 231 or Bulls Eye
WST is the only powder I use anymore in 45 Auto. It's not as versatile as 231/HP38 or Bullseye in that there is hardly any published data for it in other handgun cartridges but there is plenty of data for it in 45 Auto. It is clean, accurate, easy metering, and soft shooting. What more can you ask for in target 45 Auto rounds?
WST works great. I think it's better than 231 for target loads in the .45 ACP. About like Bullseye. For the last few years I had to buy what was available and WST was and it's good stuff. I also use it in .38. I can see no reason it wouldn't work in 9MM but Hodgdon won't publish a load for it. It couldn't be any more weird than Titegroup.
I know Bullseye shooters using WST with their 185 grain cast lead bullets. I don't know the charge but it is an excellent powder. Look up recommended loads and be happy.
