WSF in 9mm help

Hey guys,

I'm trying out a new load using:

3.9gr WSF
147gr hornady xtp
WSP primer
1.100 COAL

The gun is a glock 19 with no modifications and very low round count. It also had no issues ejecting 124gr loaded to minimum.

The issue I'm having is that it will stove pipe the spent cartridge. I checked the brass after sizing, fits the case gauge. I did a plunk test in the barrel, passed. Any ideas what the cause would be? I tried the same round in a scorpion evo and it ejected them just fine.

Thanks,

Dallas

Not every gun is sprung the same, some loads my Shield will shoot fine my Glocks will barely eject.

I think your just going to have to up the charge a little.

Alright I'll give it a try. Max is listed at 4.2-4.5 depending on the book. Thinking 4.2 may work.

My WSF , 147gr 9mm charge is 4.3gr and it cycles all my 9mm's . I only went .1gr higher at 4.4gr but the 4.3gr shot the best . My notes say the loads ran pretty dirt ( sooty scorched cases ) under 4gr .

www.Hodgdonreloading.com has loads that range from 3.9 to 4.3 listed with JHP and FMJ but not specifically your bullet. My Hornady manual is too old to list that bullet or powder. The Hodgdon reloading site lists Hodgdon, Winchester and IMR powders with different bullets. I keep it bookmarked even though I have their latest manual.

9x19, 147gn XTP, WSF powder?
OK, I show 3.3-4.0gn start loads and 4.1-4.5gn MAX loads. I also have a note that 4.1gn was accurate with the HP-XTP from some manual.
Best sure you have a tight locked wrist, so you're not limp-wristing or breaking your wrist? Are you flinching at all and taking momentum from the slide? You may need to check or have someone watch. For a Glock, I have to really cock my wrist down to get the muzzle aligned with the target, so I can't LOCK my wrist. About 15 minutes with a Glock and my arthritis is KILLING me.

Thanks guys. I bumped it up to 4.2 and still no dice. Going to go up to 4.5 tomorrow and see how that fairs.

As far as limp wrist, I'm not saying it's impossible but 9mm is the lightest round I shot. My EDC is a G27, which as you know is very snappy.

This is also a new glock so maybe I got one of the guns that need a short break in period? Either was I'll let you guys know what I come up with.

Well tried 4.6, still won't cycle...
I didn't see any pressure issues but I'm not configurable going any higher.

I'm surprised that's not cycling the firearm . I'm assuming it works with factory ammo ?? What other powders do you have ?

Hodgdon lists a range of 4.0 to 4.3 grains of WSF in 9mm with 147 JHP.

3.6 may have been too light and 4.6 is too hot.

It will cycle with factory ammo, but it doesn't do it with confidence.

As fast as other powders this is the only one I have the has load data for 147gr.

To me it just seems strange that it will cycle other guns but not this one.

That's why I tried 3.9 and 4.2.

Just as an fyi my hornady book lists min of 4.0 and max of 4.4. The 4.6 is reaching into +p range but nothing that this pistol can't handle.

Do you guys think this may just be one of those pistols that the tolerance stack up means I need a break in period?
