Wow thats neat, Desk Shotgun

I want to make a desk shotgun. This would be for leaning against the desk, to distract from work every now and then, and perhaps be a paperweight.

I saw this:

NICE and CHEAP. they said the ati accessories work with:

zoom_topper.jpg

which all come with really really long barrels and stuff.

So how does one cut the barrel down ? carefully with a hacksaw ? is this steel really hard or soft ?

How much to have a professional smith do it for you ?

thanks bunches.

You could just use a hacksaw and then clean up the edges of the cut with a file. Make sure you make it at least 18 inches though (barrel length that is) to keep it legal. I'd do like 18.5" just to be safe.

There is a certain romance around a single shot rifle (or shotgun) for hunting. Do it right, one shot one kill or just don't shoot at all....I get that.

BUT, a single shot tactical shotgun? What's the point in that? Is there a need to make "home defense" more exciting, more sporting?

And what purpose is does the barrel shroud serve? You really going to pump out the rounds fast enough to make the barrel too hot???

THINK: teats + boar hog

Are these real acessories for a single shot? or is this some kind of cute photo editing job? I can't imagine anyone seriously trying to build one of these.

I think I've seen that pic before. If I'm not mistaken, it's a Rossi single shot with a lot of ATI stuff on it. Practical, meh. Kinda cool as a display, maybe.

I think it's an H&R Topper. Is it just me, or does the scope in the second picture make the hammer inaccessible?

I'll spare everyone the Honda ricer comparisons, but I still have to say that it looks like a complete waste of money. If you want a cool conversation piece that is practically useless, why not get a dummy reproduction gun or something?

I just looked at ATI's website... its no joke. Thats a real 'tatical' single shot. As sad and usless at it seems... I kinda want one.

And perhaps a tatical muzzle loader too. I cant imagine a polymer flintlock with pisto-grips and heatshield.

I guess in a HD situation, its great to arm a friend that happens to be with you... Imagine it with the 5 rounds attached to the stock.

but its cheap, FUN, and COOL LOOKING

The heat shield on the shotgun has both front and rear sights attached to it.
The other gun is an NEF Handi-RIFLE, not a shotgun. It also has a hammer extension on it. The M4 style stock on both has an adjustable length of pull. These parts make more sense than all the extended slide stops, extended safeties, beavertail grip safeties, and funneled mag wells that many here are are so fond of on their .45s.

I would leave that beautiful Topper Deluxe alone. I have a Topper Deluxe Classic and I wouldn't touch it, except to clean it and shoot it. It's a fine modern day shotgun....beautiful! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Well I see that the world has gone to heck in a hurry. Who in their right mind thought of that little gem.

You could likely go get a mossy 590A1 or a remington 870P for the cost of one of those and the kits.
