Taking my son on his first deer hunt this season. Planned on buying him his own rifle but unexpected expenses prohibited me from doing so.
While talking about the upcoming season at work yesterday I mentioned that the kid and I would be sharing a rifle this year. Well, tonight after work a co-worker caught me in the parking lot, produced a gun case and said "here, let him use one of these".
Opened up the case when I got home and inside is a Remington Sendero in 25.06 with a Tasco 4-16x40 rangefinder scope and a couple of boxes of ammo. Also a Ruger M77 (200th year of American Liberty model) in .243 with a Simmons 2.5-10x50 attached and a couple of boxes of ammo.
Haven't decided how to return the favor but I'll think of something!

SK, That person is not just a co-worker. They are a true friend.
Good luck on your deer hunt.:)
Perhaps you could take your new friend hunting for a return on the favor.

Just a thought, but I'll bet the thanks would mean alot more coming from your son than from yourself. And for sure, this is a kindness that your son will not soon forget. Good luck on your hunt from this bleeding heart vegetarian.:)

 It's nice to get help from a friend, especially of the quality he offered.

Good luck and bag a biggun'.

Restores my faith in Humankind a little

Good to know that folks like this are still out and about, isn't it?

And I concur with a couple of the ideas above:

The "thanks" ought to come from your son, and hopefully be accompanied by some venison and a copy of the photo that you'll take (You ARE taking the camera, right?) of him with his kill.

If you bag an animal but he doesn't, then take him along with you and let him present the meat with the thank you.

I think your son is in for a very good learning experience here, whether he takes an animal or not. Hope you guys have the time of you lives! :D
