Wow talk about pricey!

For a typical AR, it's not worth anywhere near that. For a collector, especially someone in a "ban state" that wants original Colt equipment in factory new condition, it might be.

Wow...I don't care if Eugene Stoner himself went back in time and assassinated Hitler with that rifle, $4000+ is waaaaaay too much for an AR. It did say 'private seller' though, maybe that guy was being optimistic.

Being new in the box adds value to a already pricy rifle, but 4K+ is a pipe dream, a crack pipe. A collector may pay 2-2.5K for a rifle like this.

wow.

I'm wondering about the origin here. Did otis's grandpa die, and he found this in his basement? Is he totally ignorant of the value, and trying to make every cent he can out of a rifle that "must be valuable?"

You also have to wonder, is this one of the hundreds of speculators who bought "pre ban" to flip them when the price was right, found out that the price was never right, and paid 25% annual interest on them for 5 years on his credit card?

If so, it's entirely conceivable that this guy may actually have $2-3k invested in this thing.

My brother did this. he bought either uppers or lowers, iirc, on his credict card. wound up never selling them. Probably spent more on those things than a new car would have cost him.
