I don't think I'd give up a gun with which I was familiar, that works properly, for one that may or may not be a suitable replacement.
I'm not a fan of proprietary parts on "1911" pistols, so I'd always go for the more-G.I. gun - in this case, the Springfield - but if you already have the Smith, and you like it, why trade?
If you prefer the adjustable sights of the RO, it's easy to swap out the fixed sight on the Smith and replace it with something adjustable.
I'm also no fan of the "we ran out of matching parts" look that Smith favors on their pistols, so just for looks, I prefer the Springfield.
EDIT: Springfields haven't been made in Brazil for about three years, so there shouldn't be a concern of foreign v. domestic.
