Would you pull the trigger on a 10 Ga Derringer

About a year ago I saw a 10 Ga Derringer Style pistol of unknown origin in a Cabelas gun library. It was a two barrel just like a traditional derringer, same design overall just much bigger.

Now, Im not one to normally shy away at pulling the trigger on much of anything but I have to say I don't know that I would pull the trigger on something like it.

Sorry I dont have any photos....

Would you shoot it or does it become a safe queen? Admittedly the one I saw was beat up, but lets pretend its a beauty.

Which way would you go on this?

I shot a 45colt derringer this past spring... it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be...

... I would try the ten I suppose.

Well that all depends... is there a live round in it? Does it have to be in my hand or can I clamp it in a vise and then pull the trigger?

Scrawny as I am I doubt I'd be able to fire that kind of beastie without breaking something. Last time I fired my .357 SP101 with full-house loads I gave myself a few nasty bruises on the web of my shooting hand; last time I fired magnum loads through my 12ga Mossberg 590 my shoulder hurt for a week. A 10ga derringer would probably damn near take my hand off.

Am I being charged by a crazed killer with a knife in his hand? If so, yes, let him have both barrels.

For fun on the range? No, not my idea of fun.

I don't know. I really, really really want a Howdah pistol but I think 12ga would be about my limit. Then again I also want a .577 Tranter or the Belgian .65 cal. revolver I saw in the Rifleman magazine long ago. Wouldn't mind a Montenegrin Gasser either. I wish someone would make a 5 shot .50cal. revolver, say on an N frame equivalant throwing a 300+ grain bullet at around 650 to 850FPS, round butt with a 2 1/2 or 3in. barrel and I don't think I would bother with anything else for daily carry.

My hands hurt too much now.

But wait a minute so I can get the video camera and record you pulling that trigger at the range. :D
