Would you like "Obamacare" if it meant no gun control?

Newbie post to forum, but I have been hear reading for a few weeks. FWIW, I have owned guns all my life and I am an NRA member.

I was discussing the potentially looming gun control with my retired father. He pointed out that when he was growing up, it was common to have mental health institutions, many of them in fact. Today, he and I could not name one versus there being 2-3 within 20 minutes of the home he was raised in.

One constant to all of the headline mass shootings was that the shooters are generally speaking, nuts.... Adam Lanza's mom was looking for help, James Holmes is obviously unstable, I could go on and on.

So, if Obamacare provided the answer to government funded mental healthcare and in return, we did not have to worry about losing our guns, but rather government fund helping the mentally ill, would you support Obamacare??

I think this topic is thought provoking if nothing else.

Since Obamacare doesn't include anything regarding mental health, it's a moot point.

Nobody in charge wants to admit there are crazies in the general population, and that they need to be isolated until they can be helped. It's political suicide. Even though it's the truth.

What he said ^

Without getting too political, even if it did and they offered us some sort of guarantee that gun control would not further expand we shouldn't have to essentially pay for other people's health care to retain a constitutional right. The 2A is a RIGHT, not a privilege that we should have to bargain to keep from being encroached upon.
