Would you buy these?

I know some of these are shotguns but some are rifles...so I didn't know what forum to put this. :o

A local pawn shop is trying to clear out some of it's inventory. They sell on gunbroker only and some of the cheaper guns aren't worth the $25 shipping cost and then FFL fee on the other end to list them after they are bid on.

I'm always looking for more surplus rifle's and single shots which he knows. He has made me a deal that I can buy a "group lot", all or none. The list are as follows:

(4) Mosin Nagant's (I like these...have 7)
(1) NEF Pardner 12 gauge
(1) Ithica Single shot Lever Action Break 12 ga.
(1) H&R 410
(1) H&R Topper 158 12 gauge
(1) H&R Topper jr Model 490 20 ga.

He said none are disasters and some are quite nice. I get the chance to look them all over but again, can't pick and choose....none or all. $500 was the price.

Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks

That sounds like a weird deal. Kinda sketchy to be honest. I don't know anything about the shotguns, but I would guess 4 used mosins alone could be worth $180-200. Not really sure about the shotguns though. But then again use discretion

What about that sounds weird? I usually buy some of his cheaper firearms...mosins, enfields, single shot shotguns/rifles. He knows this and knows I usually buy two or three at a time when I do buy something from him. He can't sell a $100 gun easily on GB bc by the time FFL/Shipping it's not really worth it to the buyer. You can buy one new for what they would have in it by the time all is said and done.

I figure even if they are cheaper, utility guns for $60 a pop they wouldn't hurt to have. Thanks for your input though.

If you have the money and the space in your safe, I say go ahead and buy them. I'd be most interested in the Ithaca. If it's a M66 and in good shape, it's probably worth around $200. Just make sure they all work.

Silly question... But if you have the $500 why not buy two decent guns instead of a mishmash of cheap guns.

Right off the bat I can think of a good setup. Mossberg 500 (on sale regularly at Big 5 for $289) Savage Mark II (normally around $200). Or something like that....

Savage has some semi auto .22s as well for pretty cheap. Maybe a rifle/scope setup in a good hunting caliber that are always on sale.... I suggested the .22/12ga set up due to the cheap cost of those rounds and it looks like you are wanting the most bang for your buck.

I am just not understanding what you are hoping to accomplish with this buy. Are you looking for something that you can split up, sell separately and make a buck??? If so I don't think the BATF would look too favorably on that.

If you already have seven MNs what is four more going to do for you? I don't think that's the way to prepare for the zombies.... Maybe one AR one AK and a couple Glocks. Eleven MNs and a handful of single shot shotguns are not really going to get you far.

Please fill us in on the master plan to your collecting....

I dont see it as a bad idea as long as the guns look nice. What is your plan with these guns? You said you have several Mosins...are you trying to increase your collection?

Why buy a bunch of projects unless you are looking for just that?

Do you have another firearms besides these?

Good response, thanks. I have quite a few other guns, s&w revolvers, two ruger 22/45s, an 870, marlin 39d,a marlin 336, numerous other single shots.

My thinking was that for $60 a piece, I could further my mosin collection and also have several "starter" shotguns for the kids/Grandkids in the future. Could clean them up real nice and though thet wouldnt be 870 wingmaster quality at least when they get of age, they would have something to call their own. Goal is to get them each a 22 and shotgun.

Is $500 out the door? That's like $55 apiece...I'd probably do it. Sell what I didn't want...which would be most of it. Or if you like that stuff, if the guns are in working order, that's not a bad deal at all.

I still think that's a good deal. I'd make money on that. Or keep a Mosin and a shotgun and have ~$60-80 in the two of them. Provided they're in decent shape of course. I'm thinking $80 per Mosin and $60 per shotgun easy in my area, just on principle. Some may be worth more, as noted. Or if several are cool, keep them. You aren't likely to lose any money on that.

Just me but 500 bucks will buy me a new match barrel for my Savage 10 and have change left over. I would rather have one tack driver than a dozen 2 MOA guns

If you want them as starter guns that sounds like a good deal to me. In my area you can't resell the NEF guns for anything. I have one of the nicer pardners with screw in chokes and all and I couldn't get $75 for it. I don't think they are worth much more than that price, especially in a take it or leave it all at once deal...

Except the Mosins. The are $89 online now I think. They are ALL used. The value doesn't really drop as long as you don't break them.

If you need all theses Single Shot Shotguns, and Mossin Nagants its a good price. I miss the old Single Shot 20 Gauge that I started hunting with long ago. I did not inherit it, and another family member ended up with it. Good luck:)

I'd go for it, but then again I like wierd stuff.

Also consider the 4 Mosins, since you already have 7, you could probabley get a table at a gun shot, sell the Mosins and make most of your money back making the rest basicly free.

I like Mosins, but I dont think even I need 11.
