Would Baby Eagle 9mm magazines work in a CZ 75 Compact?

Unfortunately, only the factory CZ75 compact mags work in the Compact and the PCR. FWIW, there are factory 13rd mags, although they're hard to find.

Take care. Marko

Try EAA Witness Compact .40 mags

The one I picked up fit fine and fed with no problems in my old PCR, but did not always drop free until I shimmed the front lip of the magazine base. After that it would drop free as well.

Make sure you use the .40 and not the 9mm compact mags. The 9mm compacts have the notch for the mag release in the wrong spot, and I think they may be a little too short.

SteveC:

Thanks for the tip. I've only tried the 9mm Witness/Baby Eagle compact mags. Assumed the mag catch would be the same on the .40 mags. I'll have to give it a try.

Take care. Marko

FWIW I've shortened standard size CZ75 mags to fit my compact. The mag bodies are soft metal, easy to cut and easy to bend to create a new lip to hold the floorplate. You can do it with common hand tools, careful measuring, and a little patience in about an hour. The magazine release notch is already in the right spot on the larger mags so that doesn't pose any additional problem.

Ammo Dave, there are lots of inquiring minds out there (like mine) that would be very interested in more details about that. A regular 13-round magazine costs at least twice as much as a 15-round magazine. Do tell.

I'm certainly not a smithy but shortening a common metal magazine isn't too difficult. IIRC I did a couple of them about 10yrs ago after I bought my compact and then found out I couldn't find any spare 13rd mags. My procedure was to first remove the baseplate, spring, and follower from some inexpensive 15rd mags (don't remember the brand) and insert the empty tube in my compact. Then I scribed a line down each side of the new mag at the bottom of the grip frame. I then cut off the mags (with a hacksaw) about 1/2" below the scribed line. The front and back of the mags can be cut or ground down flush with the scribed line. I think I probably used vice-grips to create a new side lip by bending the sides out carefully to a 90 dgree angle. Use you original stock mag for a reference and trim or grind away the extra lip until it matches the depth and contour of the original. A little cold blue and you're ready to reassemble. It may also be necessary to shorten the mag spring if it's too stiff to accept 13 rds. One of my modified mags will hold 13 rds; the other holds 14.

Got a 40SW Witness compact mag today. Turns out that the mag catch is about 2mm off (fixable) and that the feed lips don't hold 9mm ammo (not fixable). WIll try to return it and see about making a 13rd from a 15rd or just suggesting that runt use a 15.

Who sells extra mag springs for the 13rd mags?
