Would a Smith and Wesson 3000 be compatible with a 870 stock

From what I have read the Smith and Wesson 3000 is a clone of a 870. Since they are rarer guns there is not a lot of after market things for them. I was wondering if a 870 or mossberg 500 after market stock would fit a Smith and Wesson 3000.

Greetings TKE PK270 and welcome aboard

I don't have a clue; but, keep in mind the term "clone" doesn't mean dimensionally identical. You could try by getting an 870 stock from a seller with a liberal return policy.

Mossberg 500...No.
The Model 500 is a totally different design.

The S&W Model 3000 is a copy of the 870 but NOT exact.
I "think" I recall that wood butt stocks can be modified to fit.

You can buy S&W parts from Gun Parts Corp and from LSG

Note that the Model 3000 was also sold by Mossberg as the Mossberg 3000 and Gun Parts sell parts under both S&W and Mossberg:

If you're wanting some kind of "tactical" stock, all bets are off. Those are specifically made for the 870 and may or may not be modifiable to fit a 3000.

I owned/shot/hunted a S&W 3000, about 20 years ago - and I seemed an exact copy of a Rem 870 I owned several years before that.

While I can't attest to a perfect fit, if it was my gun, I would sure try it - IF the replacement stock came from an 870 of the same gauge as the S&W (receiver size).
