I remember back in the late sixties when a million blacks marched to Washington, D.C. in support of Civil Rights. They actually had quite an impact on the Government at that time. What if millions of American gun owners marched on Washington, D.C. and made it know, right there in front of the White house, that we do not appreciate this President and the government as a whole, toying with our American Constitutional rights. Could such a thing ever be pulled off in this day and age? I think ten million gun owners massed would be at least as effective as Obama constantly parading the families of Newtown in front of the cameras, as he keeps on doing. Just a thought.

IMHO writing letters, attending legislative sessions and hearings, workingat the grassroots level-turning out to vote-achieves a lot more.
The March on Washington in 1963 was attended by about 250,000 or so people, Lewis Farrakhan tried to organize a "Million Man March"-he got a LOT fewer than that. The 1963 March is one of those events that has attained mythic status, mostly for Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. One of its goals was to give a prod to the Kennedy Administration which was seen

The Illinois State Rifle Association has sponsored a rally to the IL capitol for the past few years. The only news organizations that cover the event are the local stations in Springfield IL. No coverage in the Chicago area news. The picture below highlights the difference in size of the crowds that attend these events. There was an anti-concealed carry rally at the capitol one month after the Illinois Gun Owner's Lobby Day (IGOLD).
If the media doesn't cover the event, it didn't happen. Of course the anti-gun event got plenty of coverage in the Chicago area. The media is also to blame in the war against guns.

On the guntalk radio show and podcast last Sunday, Tom interviewed a fellow from the Connecticut gun rights group.
He said that the recent anti gun laws, that were just passed there, were in spite of the overwhelming presence of gun owners at the hearings.
Their legislature just went behind closed doors and did what they wanted.
Many years ago, the city politicians where we lived decided to pass some very draconian anti gun laws.
Laws that would have greatly interfered with a huge gun show that had been held there for years.
Thousands of gun owners marched to the legislative chambers to protest.
It made no difference and the politicos passed the laws anyway.
We are dealing with some very arrogant people who have little regard for the wants of their constituents.
Getting them out of office is the real cure to this never ending problem.

But you people are talking about thousands......I am talking about MILLIONS. If it is not possible to get millions together, then that shows just how silly the talk about a "revolution" is. I know that Americans no longer have the balls to do any more than just talk. That is why the North Koreans and the Iranians laugh at us.
