I am looking for a little help putting a value on a handgun I have had for many years. I have a Thompson Center Contender. I have 2 barrels, the first one is a .222 with a Leipold Scope and the other is a .357. This gun was purchased in the early to mid 80's and is in very good condition. I know that you can not value this accurately without holding it but I am just looking for a ballpark to have something in my head when I walk into my local shop. As of right now, I have no idea at all.

Thanks for the help!

Easy open frame or not? Depending on condition, of course, figure $200ish.
Barrels are $100 to $225. Need to know what length. 8" octogon are less desireable as shooters. .357 Mag 10" round are more desireable.
Leupold scope - 2x or 4x? 2x will go $125 while 4x will approach $200ish.
Furniture has value.

Bottom dollar without looking at it $500 for a fair price if I was buying. Shops will low ball.

You have a Contender as opposed to the the new G2. It will make a difference if it's a SS or blued model as well as Walnut or synthetic stocks. Guessing your is going to be blued, in walnut. A few years ago, I put a value of $200.00 on the frame and $150.00 on the barrels. zcarp2 has a pretty good handle on this. You need to list exactly what you have as there are just too many unknowns to set a good estimate. The Carbine barrels are more attractive than the shorter barrels. The 357, is still available but the .222 is not offered by TC and you have to go to their custom shop to get this one and oh yes, pay more. Go to Gun Broker to get additional ideas on these.

Be Safe !!!
