for me it was my Winchester 1400 Ranger 20ga autoloader. Olin Corp. wanted to bring out a gun that was affordable to everyone. So, thay let their bean-counters design it instead of their engineers! Cheap pot metal and plastic at every key location, including the fragile plastic bolt release which you cannot find replacement parts for. A complete POS... :barf:

Although normally I like Ruger products well enough, the worst gun I've ever owned was a Ruger P345.
Owners manual said be sure not to dry fire it without magazine in gun.
Well, I assume previous owner did just that as when I got it ---there were many FTF. Got it fixed by ruger...when it returned, the love was gone--sold it.
 
My worse had to be 2 taurus revolvers. Both in 357 mag with one wit a 4 inch and the other had a snub. Both had minds of there own and fired when they wanted to. I had one range trip wit the snubby that it didnt fire more times than it did. I took both of them to a few diffrent gun smiths and everyone told me nothin was wrong wit them that it was the ammo. I tried every type of ammo and never got good results. Dont miss them one bit and will never own another taurus revolver.
 
I'll second the Winchester 1400. I bought a ranger model 20 gauge in 1988 or 1989 to hunt doves with while I was in the Navy. Damn thing was so inconsistent and unreliable about all you could count on was the first shot. But somedays it would run without a problem (using the same factory ammo??) It was really too bad becuse the gun balanced and swung well(from what I can remember). It could have been great.

Street Sweeper, hands down. The thing worked ok until it was time to clean it. There was no surprises when disassembling it, or reassembling it. It never worked reliably again after removing the drum one time.

Nothing was difficult about it, and I am very mechanically inclined, in fact, I am a Mechanical Contractor who makes his living making stuff work. Not the Street Sweeper...Sorry, Mamm, it needs replaced...
 
Taurus 94 22 LR 5" Stainless Steel 9 shot

Initially came in with a canted or "clocking" front sight. Brand new and sent it in to the factory. Came back and still canted. Sent it out again and this time, the canting was finally fixed. However, the barrel showed many tool marks and dings, not just scratches. Looked as if the barrel had been worked on, using a pipe-wrench. Cleaned it up a bit and sold it off. Thhis experience really soured me on their revolvers. ..... :barf:

Slugo, if that W-1400 is such a POS, then why do you still have it? Share your grief, use it as partial payment on your next shotgun purchase. IMHO, life it too short to keep bad guns.
 
For me --- it was a Browning Citori, 525 series O/U with 30" barrels.... I bought it new in 1998 I think ( when they were brand new ...had to have one, had to have one, had to ....) ....and it was before I really understood "Fit"..

There was too much drop at comb and heel on that gun ...and because it didn't fit / it beat the daylights out of me ( I refinished the stock and sold it ) and purchased a pair of Citori XS Skeet models with parallel adj combs...and never looked back. Fit is such a big thing ...that it ruined having that gun for me ... Comb was so steep / it pushed meat in my face up against my cheek bone ...gun recoiled into my cheek bone ...instead of under it ...so the meat around my cheek bone was bruised / bruised the bone ...it would cut my face ...scab over ...then I'd do it again. I tried Jones pads, all kinds of stuff to make it work ....for 6 months. I finally did get a soft comb stick on pad for it ....that leveled out the comb / so I could shoot it ...but it just made the gun ugly.
 
S&W 915.

It was terribly unreliable after only about 50 shots. If it wasn't perfectly clean it would jam. Also I could barley shoot minute of hub cap at 15 yards.

I don't know what was wrong with that gun but it was junk.
 
Let's see eather the sterling arms 22lr garanteed to jam pistol or my fox model b with the extra sticky chambers


And my Winchester 1400 never once gave me any problems, I break 25s all day with it

Nope. Won't even talk about it. It's depressing, dispiriting and not worth the effort because it is long, long gone.

I'd rather talk about the best gun I ever owned. :)
 
Mossberg 500:
  • Was used to fit & finish of the old Remington 870's
  • Just couldn't seem to 'hit' with it
  • Occasional failure-to-feed with one type of shell, the Remingtons seemed to like everything
The only gun I've ever sold at a big loss
 
Sig C3 GSR 1911... nothing could make it feed reliably. Tried different mags, different ammo, multiple repairs and it could not shoot 20 shots before it started jamming up regularly.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Traded it to a guy that wanted one badly. He was a gunsmith and knew upfront about the problems. Got a nice used Sig 229 with a handful of mags and have never looked back.

Truth is I like Sig's old designs (226, 229, 228, 239, 232, etc.), but any new designs just seem to be problematic. Things like the Sig 556, 238, 1911 and Mosquito. They create new items that are incompatible with existing designs and parts, trying to make the old design their own. Sadly IMHO they don't do a good job...
