Pretty sketchy - I couldn't find anything in the current Chicago papers, but I don't doubt it for a minute.

Worlds Slowest Long-Range Bullet Discovered in Chicago Area

School officials in an uppity Chicago suburb have identified the world's slowest long-range 9mm bullet.
At first, the bullet was thought to have been part of a drive-by shooting commited by an idiot belonging to a local street gang. Since "those" kinds of people and "that" sort of thing doesn't happen in this neighborhood, another explanation had to be found.
Fortunately, one of the administrators - apparently a former rocket scientist in some little known third world country - was able to give the only plausible explanation: the bullet must have been fired from a nearby shooting range, which he specifically named.
The fact that the range was 14 miles away and had been closed over six months did not seem to bother anyone.
The news media reported the incident just as the school administration said it happened. Since school officials and the news media are never wrong, they must have discovered the world's (perhaps the galaxy's) slowest and longest-range 9mm bullet.
