World's fastest semi-auto handgun! CZ 7.5 FK

My hunting pistol gets 2,600 fps with a 70 grain OTM from a 10.5" barrel. :D

There are .44, .357 and 9mm carbines, conversely I'm aware of 5.56, 6.5, 6.8, .300, and .308 pistols. Probably a lot more. Someone suggested a .458 SOCOM pistol a few weeks back.

Blurs the definition? Doesn't legally exist. It's all ammo and the ATF then defines what a pistol is by whether it has a stock or not.

I'm thinking a .30 bench rest case necked down with a .17 projectile should be able to deliver over 3,500fps from a 10.5" barrel.

Meh first off kinetic energy isn't a good way to measure performance. Standard pressure 45/70 and 223 have about the same KE yet nobody thinks a 223 is a Bear round.

Second a 9X25 Dillon is more interesting to me and I still don't want one.

I'd love it if someone made a modern gun for the 7.62 x 25 (Tokarov or CZ-52). I was able to pick up some surplus stuff for cheap! Problem is no one loads defense ammo and a lot of the Russian military stuff uses corrosive components. Its a pretty long cartridge though so you better have fairly large hands!

Nice claim, but the author states the .357 Auto Mag does 1900 with a 110gr bullet. I have data listing the 110gr at 2300fps (max) from a 6.5" .357AMP

And a max load hitting 2600fps from a 6.5" with a 90gr bullet.

Therefore, I shall take all his other claims with the proverbial grain of salt..
:)

From the other articles I've read, they are using a necked down 10mm magnum case for this round. I think it's greatest virtue is the entire package , not just the round. They are saying with the recoil dampening system(lug under the barrel) that it recoils slightly less than a standard 230 grain 45 acp round ball. I would really like to shoot one. It appears to be an awful lot of power in a very controllable package. Not one of those huge dinosaurs that take all you've got just to hold on target from a standing position.

46 ounces? No heavier than my Ruger GP100 w/6" bbl. Heavy, but not near the same as an x-frame of Deagle (yeah I said Deagle, deal with it bruh).

Oh, and it's got 14+1. It's sort of like a 7.62x25mm on "da roids" as they say these days.

I think with a PROPERLY designed hollow tip cavity bullet, it would perform well against humanoid threats. Load it up with hard casts or armor piercing rounds and it'd make a good bearman's pistol or body armor penetrator.

And on top of all that, there’s the matter of what such a gun will cost, and rumor has it that could be well north of $5,000.

You guys need to buy 3 or 4 of them and let me know how they work. ;)

I wonder what the one shot stop rating of this would be if using a proper jacketed/frangible hollow point round? The energy is very high, easily beating 10mm, but uses a light bullet and has good ammunition capacity and the weight while heavy isn't totally out of the question like on a Deagle.

I've wished someone would do this a time or two as well. I'm going to start up a new thread so as not to hijack this one.

be careful of barrel/chamber damage w surplus ammo

Stephen, I have shot a lot of Romanian mil-surp in my Tokarevs. Not cleaning with water bsed or hot water soon after shooting will give you barrel corrosion. If cases split - some have- it eats away on the chamber during firing. For some strange reason, barrels are neither readily available nor cheap. I do love the fun that is a Tokarev.
BUT. I WANT A 7.5 FK BRNO ! Indeed, a 7.62x25 X 1½power+ , decently small size. Bet even with the price, wait will be 6 mo to a year.

I got an email today saying the ATF has approved the importation of the pistol, and that it should be on the shelves soon.

I have to admit, I am more impressed with the rear sight than I am the cartridge.

From the other articles I've read, they are using a necked down 10mm magnum case for this round.

Pics that I've seen appear to show a round very similar to .30 Luger (case head dimensions approximately those of 9mm, necked down to .30").
I made some .30 Luger cases out of 9x23 WIN brass, and wonder if the ballistics, in a gun capable of handling 55,000psi, would be much different from this new wonder round?

My understanding is it's more like a 10mm magnum necked to 30cal, than Tokarev. Lots more volune for powder & lead.

Well, I won't say it's going to do things that can't be done already but it is always interesting to see a new calibre or variation of an existing one and this seems similar to the Tok round, IINM. (Or not, based on the above post! :o)

On top of that CZ make good guns of decent quality and accuracy at affordable prices.

This particular example seems to fall short on the price front but hopefully makes up for it by excelling in the other areas.
I won't be buying one, but I'd be interested to see it in action and given the present climate here in Europe relating to firearms in particular, I'm pleased to see a new Euro gun being put out there and a company that has the confidence to launch it.

The CZ we know, and love is not making this pistol. It is made by another Czech gun manufacturer in BRNO.

What is the magazine capacity? Yes, I may be interested in this gun if/when it gets here. I just hope they sell it with a set of reloading dies. Anyone remember the 440 CorBon?

I'm disappointed, I thought this thread was going to be about a real fast cycling semi auto handgun. Something to give Jerry Miculek a run for his money. :)
