O.K., I'm taking the plunge. I am going to order two P99's in 9mm.
I'm going for a military & a standard model.

You are now looking at the newest Walther fan! :D

I wonder if my wife will be as impressed?

Oh well, I like living on the edge!

swamprat, I'll take your enthusiasm to mean you recently got to shoot one. That's the usual reaction:D

You're timing couldn't be better either. Walther just cut the price on them $140 bucks so you should be able to get a great deal on them now.

Just got back from the shop (1.18.02) and asked the manager about this price reduction. He has heard nothing about it, yet. Does anyone know when this price reduction takes affect?

I'm not to familiar with the P99. Are they double action only or what? How are the triggers? Mag capacity?

Irock, the P99 has a polymer frame and is available in traditional DA, DAO, and what Walther calls QPQ(kinda like a Glock striker is halfcocked). I have a DA and the trigger is fine with me, the SA is especiallynice, apparentl some find the DA pull heavy. Real capacity is 16 plus one but your'e gonna pay for it, most hi caps I have seen run from 100 to 125 dollars per. One feature that the P99 has is an interchangeable backstrap on the grip to adjust the size of the grip and it also comes with three front sights that vary in height. oh yeah, it is available in 9mm and .40cal(almost forgot that) IMO the P99 is one of the best 9mm's out there. Hope this helps:D

I did a similar thing this week, but instead of getting both in the same caliber, I went for both calibers (9mm and .40 Auto) with both having the olive drab frame.

I ordered a P99 military 9mm last weekend, but they haven't been able to find one yet.
That's the bad news, the not finding one.:(

The good news would be that when I finally get one it will be for less money.:D

P.S. and maybe the Beretta 92 and Taurus 605 I put up for sale will be sold and I won't have to part with any cash.;)

p99

I have the p99 in 40 s & w with the price drop I'm going to buy the military in 9mm version with my Fed tax money. I'm going to call my local shop www.acefirearms.com when the price reduction takes place.:D
