Wool Pants

Am planning a hunting trip to Alaska this fall.
Since it's a fly-in/float trip, I only want to take one pair of britches and just vary my under garments according to conditions.
I'm looking for a quality pair of medium weight wool pants. (16 to 20 oz. cloth weight)
BDU/cargo style would be preferable.
None of the big names in wool (Filson,Woolrich...etc) have what I'm looking for.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

don't know if it's what you're lookin' for...

but I just got a pair of wool trousers in the local surplus store. $20 ($10 if you're skinny) and quite toasty! Just an option, depending on how picky you are. These didn't have cargo pockets, but I believe an old display model did, so you could get lucky.

I have some of the Swedish military surplus wool pants from the Sportsmans Guide that I have had for a couple of years. Very sturdy, warm, comfortable, and water repellant. The have cargo pockets. No choice of inseam length available on these, so if you are tall you might want to pass. I am about 6'1" and usually wear 34" inseam jeans, these have a shorter inseam but they fit okay, mainly due to the fact that they have a cuff belt that cinches them tight around your boots, and a hook that goes into your laces to keep them from riding up. They usually have them for about $10.

Tony,

Filson used to offer medium weight wool
pants with cargo pockets. I'm looking at
mine now but can't find a style number.
They have slash front pockets. Below those
are cargo pockets with snap/flaps.
At $120 or so, they a tad pricey, but well
made. You might want to phone them and see
if they are still in the product line....

Actually, for the money, the wool pants mentioned
by the other posters will probbly serve your
needs better. The european surplus trousers are
exceptionally well made and can be found from
light to extra heavy weight. Perhaps a web search
of military surplus clothing will help you find what
you're looking for.

If you can't find what you're looking for, email me.
There's a military surplus dealer here who may still
have what you've described in stock. I bought mine
from him (cargo pockets, 20 ounces, maybe slightly
heavier, o.d. green, button fly, european military
surplus). You'll only need one pair..they don't seem
to wear out...I think they were between thirty and
forty dollars maybe less.

Thanks for the replies.

I found a pair a pair of washable wool pants on LL Bean's
web site and am going to give them a try.
