Wooden Grip Refinishing

What's the best way to refinish, or restore the finish, on my 1976 Ruger super blackhawk's wooden grip panels? They're not gouged up or anything, just well worn (read=loved) from all the years.
Thanks.

Sand them lightly with 400-grit paper and try either Tru-Oil cut by half with mineral spirits. Another method is to use matte-finish or semi-gloss polyurethane, again cut by half with mineral spirits. If the finish is too shiny, cut it with 0000 steelwool. Be sure its 0000; the other stuff is too rough.
