What's the best way to refinish, or restore the finish, on my 1976 Ruger super blackhawk's wooden grip panels? They're not gouged up or anything, just well worn (read=loved) from all the years.

Sand them lightly with 400-grit paper and try either Tru-Oil cut by half with mineral spirits. Another method is to use matte-finish or semi-gloss polyurethane, again cut by half with mineral spirits. If the finish is too shiny, cut it with 0000 steelwool. Be sure its 0000; the other stuff is too rough.
