which should I get synthetic stands up to all weather conditions but wood looks better and gives a better feel, So which should I get, my first thought was to get synthetic but every gun Ive ever owned other than my 1911 and sig has been synthetic bu tthey had houge wrap around so I guess that doesnt really count.

I know I'm an old fuddyduddy but I like walnut on a gun, even a parkerized 870. It just plain looks better to me.

One advantage to wood is that it's easier to shorten a wooden stock than most synthetics, and most shotgun stocks are too long from the factory as they are sold. Wood is easier to damage, sure, if it gets really rough use. So synthetic has some advantages too. But synthetics tend to be noisier than wood- another downside. And on and on. It boils down to a matter of choice, and nothing says you can't have a set of each and change 'em to suit what you're doing with the gun at the time.

The walnut furniture of the 870 Police is so beautiful this is indeed a very difficult question.

We solved it by using both:

Hmmm, the wood is most definatly nicer, but shows dings and so on quickly. Mine is synthetic, but the gun takes a heck of a hiding night shooting and thrown around in the back of the truck. I would go for the synthetic, but that will increase your recoil a bit.
