Woo-hoo, new P-32

I am a happy man. Stopped by my local dealer with a couple paintball guns yesterday afternoon - I never play anymore, so I though I'd see what I could get for them in trade, rather than go through the hassle of selling them on Ebay. What do ya know, I walked out with a new Kel-tec p-32. Even the right color combo - I have a thing for the gray frame with a blued slide :D

Am taking it to the range this afternoon, along with the wife's new Glock 26 (and the wife, of course - she wants to play) to see how they do. Been wanting one of these for a LONG time, so I can't wait to shoot it!!!!:D

Got mine back from KT: it needed a new extractor. Also replaced one damaged magazine.

Fired it at an empty 1/2gal jug from windshield washing fluid that was suspended by the handle. 22 shots (3 magazines + one round) in about 90 seconds from 10 yards resulted in a 4" group that looked like a couple of overlapping 00 buck hits with modified choke. So it is possible to fire it with passable accuracy.

Reliability is back to 100% that I've come to expect of P32.

Welcom to the Mouseketeers! I never thought I'd get a kick out of a .32. Carry it where I don't feel comfortable with heavier stuff and sometimes in addition to. The P32 is OK.

Hey! Great choice!

Mine's gray too! Only with a hard chrome top and a silver metal trigger shoe. I keep it in a DeSantis "Apache" ankle holster every single day. (No matter WHAT else is in my pocket or on my hip.) It's on my ankle right now as I write this reply.

Aahzz: You didn't say what ammo you were planning to use. My P-32 is not fussy regarding ammo, but I keep it loaded with Cor-Bon .32ACP hollow points-Strongest I've found, so far.

Congrats. As I've said before the P-32 is a great little pistol. It's perfect for pocket carry. It is so light and thin that it feels like nothing more than maybe a set of car keys in your pocket. Mine has been 100% with both fmj and hollowpoints.

I've had both of my P32's for a while--0014X--015XX serial numbers. Mimi keeps hers in her car or purse; I carry mine with me everyday. Her grip is green with hard chrome slide/barrel, with a +1 mag extension. Mine is grey with hard chrome--I have a 10-rd mag on order from Kel-Tec.

As far as ammo goes, check out:

Then click on P-32 gelatin tests. Everyone who has a P-32 has their own opinion on which ammo is best. Most people that hang around the KTOG forum agree that FMJ ammo is probably a better performer in penetration, feeding, and less likelihood of "rimlock". "Preferred" brands (my favorites, anyway) include Fiocchi 73gr FMJ, Sellier & Bellot 73gr FMJ, and arguably the "best" (and hardest to find), Geco 73gr. FMJ. Check out GoldenLoki's tests--Geco has the best velocity & energy.

For MONTHS I was unsuccessful in locating any Geco--then I found it from NAVY ARMS in New Jersey. Call 1-800-669-6289 and ask for Chet. He was very helpful, and I had the ammo in about a week.

Congratulations on your new P-32. "Junior" is with me night and day (along with his "DAD"--my Glock 36).

Took it out, had a few issues. Put 190 rounds through - 150 were Blazer, 40 were Silvertips. The Blazers were miserable. Had 10 FTFs and 3 FTEs. I'm REALLY hoping it was the ammo. Had 1 FTF with the Silvertips - fired one, round 2 failed. No issues after with them. The FTEs worry me more than the FTFs, but I'm still blaming the aluminum cases. Think I'm gonna do a bit of a fluff & buff and see how round 2 goes...and, gonna try and find something other than Blazers. Just gotta hit some different stores in the area, 'cuz those were all I could find on short notice!

Aahzz,

I'd like to recommend that before you do anything else, do the fluff and buff described on goldenloki's website. I myself had fte's and so what I did was send the pistol back to Keltec (to hard chrome the slide) but I also told them that I was having fte's. They replaced the extractor and then when I got it back I did the fluff and buff (took about 1 1/2 hours). So I can't necessarily say it was the extractor or the fluff and buff, but the combination of the two seemed to work. I'd also follow the lubrication recommendations on goldenloki's website also. They strongly advise you to grease the rails and the hammer/slide interface - along with other areas. The end result is that for $200 and a little time/energy, you get a great lightweight, accurate, and yes reliable pistol.

The funny thing about the p32 is that after you carry it around for awhille, you really start to forget that you have it. But the times that it's accidentaly left in the safe at home, you really feel naked.

I love my p32 -

T-man, that's my plan. Just trying to decide if I'm gonna go for the hard chrome upgrade, 'cuz I don't wanna f&b it twice :)

that was exactly my prediciment. I was dying to do the fluff and buff, but I didn't want to do the f&b, have the slide chromed, and then not know if I needed to do it again or not. Because I was itchin like mad to get the pistol reliable. The darn thing is so nice to have with you, I wanted it fixed right here and now!

So I actually just took a couple of breaths, send the slide in for the hard chrome upgrade, told the keltec guys I was having fte's, did the fluff and buff, and then put 100 rounds through it with no failures. All told it took a couple of weeks, but it worked out really well. By the way, I was really happy with the slide upgrade. I'm not 100% sure if they hard chromed my old slide - or just sent me a new one.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

They sent you a new slide, they replace your slide with a chromed one. Just something to think about before you send it in if your existing slide is 100% reliable.
