anyone had good luck with wolf ammo?? i just tried it out with my sig sauer 250 and jammed 2 times a clip. put in winchester and no problems.

Do a search for 'Wolf' and you'll get hours of reading about the ammo.

Some guns are fine with it, some choke. AK-47's eat it like candy. Other manufacturers specifically state not to use steel case in their firearms.

First, try using proper factory "magazines" instead of "clips.":D

In all seriousness, you shouldn't have any problems with them. If you could better describe the problem perhaps we could help a bit more.

TulAmmo from Walmart is nothing more than cheap Soviet ammo. The name comes from the Tula Arsenal. It was a big military supplier because the government owned the factory (and everything else) for years. I shoot it occassionally and it works okay. It is really dirty and low quality stuff. (Also, no one asked/cares about your Glock. They are great guns but really nothing special. Quit mentioning them in every post when it serves no purpose.)

I would quicker think the ammo (of any quality) is the problem before the actual firearm if it is a good well made gun. 90% of problems with semiautos are either caused by the magazines or ammo. Start with those to issues.

BTW the OP asked about Wolf ammo not Tula. Granted Wolf, Bear and Tula are all similar steel cased, Berdan primed, Soviet made crap ammo BUT let's focus and try to help the man.

I havent shot much Wolf pistol ammo, but Ive shot a lot of Wolf rifle ammo, and it tends to be very inconsistent. One lot might shoot great, the next, is all over the place. "All over the place" goes for the brass too when you go to pick it up, which I believe is also attributed to the inconsistency. When I shoot Barnaul out of the same gun, the brass is usually fairly close together in the same area.

I also usually have a couple of "duds" per case with Wolf, where the others I use dont. Dirty and stinky also comes right to mind.

I've used Wolf and Tula in both my Mosin Nagant and Saiga .223 without issue as well as the Yugo SKS that I used to own. My dad has also used it in both of his IJ-70 Makarovs (one in 9x18 and the other in .380), an AR-15 (Cav Arms lower and Colt upper), and his MAS 49/56 conversion in .308 without issue. The only Russian ammo I've ever had problems with was Silver Bear 145grn JHP 9mm in my CZ-75. One cartridge was so out of spec that it stuck part-way into the chamber while trying to feed and I had to disassemble the gun to remove it.

I've definitely been satisfied with Wolf ammo. As far as handgun calibers go, I've only tried specifically Wolf-labeled stuff only in 9x19 Para (but have tried Tula, Silver, Bear, Brown Bear in 9x18 as well, all of which are also Russian-made steel-cased ammo). Never any issues with feeding, ejecting, or anything else. The 9x19's I fired it from were my Kahr CW9 and Arcus 98DAC.

Tried Wolf in a variety of rifle calibers too, including .223/5.56, 5.45x39, 7.62x39, and .308, from AK-74's, WASR-10/63, VZ-58, Saiga 7.62x39, Saiga .308, Golani Sporter, and CETME. Never had a single problem with those either.

Wolf ammo

Ran 50 rounds, alternating magazines, of Winchester and Wolf through Hi-Point 9 mm. No FTF on either, had tighter groups with the Wolf.

if I bought ammo

I'd spend more.

I've found Federal Champion to be fine. And Remington stuff. And Winchester stuff. And S&B and Speer and you get the idea......

Wolf

I have shot, no kidding, cases of Wolf ammo through two different .45 autos and a Makarov pistol, in addition to rifle ammo in an SKS.
I have NEVER had a round not fire. Ever.

yea my buddy had some winchester rounds that i used and not a problem. they are also as cheap so i will probably be going with those.

hey ed what glock are you talking about? the casing would eject but the slide was staying open. next round not cycling

I've got around 7,000 rounds of Wolf through my glocks, and have been present when probably another 20,000 or so has been fired (classmates, training partners, etc.)...No issues.

The worst part about shooting Wolf is having to listen to people tell you it doesn't work

I think its garbage unless you are shooting it in an AK or a saiga. I personally dont use it and never will. That goes for wolf, tula and anything else that comes from russia.

I'll shoot Wolf Match 22lr through my CZ in a 50yd rimfire match against anybody....they can pick whatever ammo they want to shoot.
