Just bought a Witness with polymer frame and wonderfinish in .40 S+W.Fit and finish are great, haven't been able to shoot it yet.the manual says no +P ammo.Is this just the company avoiding lawsuits or will the Witness really not handle +p?
Anythoughts on this would be apreciated.

I don't think you will have to worry because I don't think you will see any +p ammo for the .40 cal. The .40 is loaded hot from the factory .The pressure is already up there. I think the +p warning is for 9mm and the .45. Mark

I have the fullsize .45 in steel. When I asked EAA about +P ammo the response I got was real smart a$$, saying something like "...because there are millions of lawyers looking for money." Subsequent gunsmiths I have spoken with stated that my pistol will increase in wear just like almost every other pistol out there when using +P ammo. The NO +P appears to be more of a legal cushion if one should blow a gun up using high pressure ammo.

That being said, the .40 is already going pretty fast. I wouldn't worry about what the manual says if you are going to shoot regular .40 ammo.

Hope this helps.

Corbon does label their .40 ammo as +P. Whether or not this is a marketing tool or if they really push their ammo past SAAMI specs I don't know. Either way it is hot stuff.

Right in the H&K literature, it states that the USP was designed for use with +P and +P+ ammo.
I would not feel altogether comfortable using +P ammo on a regular basis in your gun. It actually may not have that great of a safety margin designed into it to handle these rounds, especially on a regular basis.
