I just joined a local gun club that holds USPSA matches. I have always been facinated with "practical" pistol shooting and would like to start compeating. I would more than likely compete in open/unlimited class just because I love the equipment. I had an unhealty affection for ulimited raceguns when they hit their prime in the early 90's. This would be an excuse to own one. I was thinking about getting a Witness or Tanfoglio. I had a Silver Team a few years ago, but never used it for more than a range toy and plinker. Would the Witness Gold Team or Tanfoglio Gold Custom (Hybrid?) be competative against the STI's and Para's that most of the guys on my club use? The only other gun I had considered was a self-customized Glock 20C. With a holosite, lightningstyke trigger, a few pre-bans w/+2 basepads, and assorted other Glockmeister goodies it would definatly be competative and cost effective, but I already have a Glock, and the Glock raceguns are kinda boreing IMHO. I did some searching on the web and the only places I can find Info on the Tanfoglio and Witness competition models are on the respective companys website. That leads me to beleave they arent to popular in IPSC/USPSA..not nessicarily a bad thing. Anyone have any experiance with these pistols? Where can I get some more info and pictures? What is the going price for the top of the line Gold Custom Hybrid and Gold Team nowadays?
