Wingmaster recoil pad

I've acquired a nice old-style Wingmaster stock and forend to put on my 870 Express (no checkering and the forend just has grooves cut across it). The butt, I'm told, is a bit smaller than the new Wingmaster stocks or Express stocks. I need a source for the older Remington recoil pads that will fit my stock or for a pad that can be cut / ground down to fit. Thanks for any info.

Try www.midway.com they have a complete gunsmithing supply section. More styles of pads and butt plates than youwant to look at. The other source is Brownells. They are all gunsmithing supplys and will have what you want.

Kick-eez, Limbsaver, and Pachmayr sells grind to fit recoil pads. I am sure there are a few others, but the above seems to be the most popular. They also have their own website.

But if you were to order them online, check other websites such as http://www.manventureoutpost.com/, http://www.cheaperthandirt.com , and the ones mentioned by jaguar.

I would recommend a gunsmith installation for a good, precise fit.

Bolsa charges $60~ last time I asked. I think that's one of the lowest prices out there.

You can also consider slip on recoil pads as a cheaper alternative, but that may mar the finish on the stock.

I've used an ordinary belt sander to grind recoil pads. I just lock the trigger and lay it upside down.

There is a good video on youtube on how to grind a recoil pad.

Super Cell Recoil Pads

A have two friends who recently purchased older model Wingmasters. One was a 870 unit while the other is a 1100 Wingmaster.
Both required new pads for different reasons.

You may want to try the current Remington "Super Cell" pads. Remington manufactures them for both synthetic and wood stocks. You may find they are a direct fit, or only require very minor modification.

A number of us have this pad and speak highly of it's improvement over stock.

Good luck with your quest.
