Guys.. With all that is going on.. I often think the media builds fear in the world. I am trying to over look that mess... is anyone on a border state that can confirm the news we are seeing like the following below is in fact as serious as it sounds, or is it news trying for ratings?

I have read some post, in other places, where people are loading up for a "war"... It is scary stuff to read, and i feel for for you guys.. I am just looking for serious post please... I want to get some real info on just how bad this stuff is for US citizens on the border.......

Well, if you got 10-12 miles closer to Mexico than I am, you'd be in Sonora.

The trouble is still mostly on the south side of the US/Mexico border, but it's starting to cross over. Rob Krentz was killed here back in late March, and a law enforcement officer was shot near Casa Grande in late April. 21 people were killed in a cartel type shootout about 12 miles south of the border, and about 40 miles west of me a couple of weeks back, and a mexican LEO was killed in Naco, Sonora a few days ago. I can see the lights of Naco from my house.

You could drive through this area and not really notice anything wrong. It's mostly hidden stuff that goes on, but you'd likely see illegal immigrants moving through here. The trouble is here though, and the threat of it getting worse is real.

Loading up for a war? Most aren't. Most folks I know here stay pretty well armed, and have for a while. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone here I know that doesn't own at least one firearm. That includes my mother and 87 year old grandmother.

My concern is that someone, perhaps ranchers, will get tired of waiting for the government to address the issue. We have trouble pushing in from the south, and citizens here that won't stand by while bad things happen. I agree with them, but if the wrong person gets killed, then folks from the south want to get even.

When that starts, the war will begin. In the meantime, it's mostly just the worry of what's to come that's bothering folks here. Right now there isn't much hope of federal intervention, and trouble seems somewhat unavoidable if things continue down the road they're on.

I live in SE Arizona, and yes, it's real.

ice9 - instead of closing this immediately as being off topic, I have to ask why you decided to post it in the Handgun forum?

no reason

I didn't see a place in the forums that was as active as here...
"larger group of guys to answer the question here"

Really Sorry for the off topic post... It was just a question, and my in own time of "stupidity" didn't think about that..

Please don't post any topic in a forum based on the traffic in that forum, post in the appropriate forum based on the topic itself.
