long shot

I was considering the 180gr. 40 sxt as a defense load for my glock 23.The supreme sxt is the civilian version of the t-series police only ammo.Would like to know if anyone has any data for this load,exp./pen./ect.Also,any personal experience w/this load, positive or negative would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance...long shot!

Longshot:

No personal experience, but I do know that our local police carry it in their off-duty guns (they use the T-series on duty).

I carried .40 SXT in 165gr as my primary carry round for over a year (just went to .45 Auto). The round functions and cycles well in the guns I was using (Sigma, then Hk USP). I never fired a round in anger during that time, although I did fire one test round through wallboard and got no expansion (but most hollowpoints won't expand in that situation.) I think it's a good carry round.

Right now I carry it in my Bersa .380. I have tested this round in Soaked newspaper and was impressed with the expansion and penetration of this round Next time I will put a double layer of denim over the bundle to see how the hollopoint performs. I am also looking to see how it will perform in my Glock 22.

I would highly recommend the 165gr over the 180gr. Take ANY extra velocity you can get with such a great round. I NEVER recommend a 180gr .40 S&W. There NO REASON to have 180 grains instead of 165. None at all. JMHO
