I have a model 94 that belonged to my grandfather and was thinking about finding a gunsmith to go over the action and maybe refinish the wood and was wondering if anyone could give me any names of people that are really good at it. thanks for the help

Hello, jdmcconnell. Before touching that 94' I would have a knowledgeable collector/appraiser look it over..you can easily decrease it's value by any re-finishing. Remember, if it's old..why make it look new..all those so called blemishes were collected when your Grandfather owned it..refinishing would take them away..it is only original once.

Yeah that is true and I really don't want to have it reblued or anything it's just that the action is a little loose and I was thinking about just having it worked over. Thanks for the advice and I think I will have someone look it over

Most of them are, they're designed that way. I concur with your decision to have a gunsmith look it over. There's probably not much wrong with it.

Plus one on consulting a gunsmith and a collector or two. Some fine old rifles spend decades acquiring character, would be a shame to sand it all off and cover it up.
