Winchester Model 94 in .357 Maximum

A year or so ago, I heard rumors about USRAC (Winchester) offering the Model 94 in .357 Maximum. I was licking my chops at the idea, just think, a levergun that could fire the .357 Maximum, and perhaps the .357 Magnum, and .38 Special! To date, I've heard nothing further, but I have started looking for a .357 Magnum carbine, and a .30-30 lifter to perhaps make my own. Anybody else besides me think this kind of carbine would be a kick in the pants?

About 2 years ago a friend and I discussed this idea. We both love the Max and thought it would be awesome in a lever rifle. I even called Marlin to see if they would consider it. One of their engineers told me that they had tried it and couldn't do it. (yeah right!) I think I'll call USRAC and encourage them. If they are already doing it, I'll applaud them.

Don't know about 357 Max, but I recommend the Marlin 1894CS in 357 Magnum. I got mine yesterday, and tested it out at the range today. I did have to drift the sights a bit, as it was shooting consistently to the right, after which it was deal accurate at 50 yards. I preferred it over the winchester and rossi, although I do own a full-size winchester in 30/30. The marlin feels very solid and tight. Fun little gun for the range or for around the apartment, plus the kick is quite light compared to the 30/30.

The action should be strong enough to handle the .357 Maximum and the cartridge could come of age as lever gun fodder. Further, there'll be no flame cutting like on a revolver.
