Winchester model 77 problems/information

Hi All
New to this forum, but have recently acquired a tube feed model 77. The gun looks and feels good, but doesn't feed worth a hoot. It has been apart, cleaned and checked. Several days of tinkering and the results are the same, jams and failures to feed. My real question is, was this model a lemon? or did I just get hold of a bad one? Any good sources of repair procedures, besides the Wood books? If these were problem plagued this one will go in the junk pile.
Thanks Tom

Dear Sir:
, I'd disassemble that 77 and clean it with gun scrubber. They're usually trouble free. (Don't take it completely apart) but really clean it up and see if any parts are visibly worn.
(Are you related to Tom Horn - you've got the right rifle)
That's about all I can tell you - the one I had was AOK!
